Remember those tattoo necklaces most of us wore as kids? Well they are back with a bang! Choker necklaces which were last seen in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai on Rani Mukherji are being seen everywhere again. The choker came into being during the French revolution when women took to wearing a red ribbon around their neck to pay homage to guillotine victims. Which later transcended to prostitute wearing and then ballet dancers.
So how to get the choker necklace trend right?
Wear a plastic one: These low maintenance, low cost ones are abundantly available. Or you can make your own.
Lace choker: The lace choker looks more girly and delicate. Paired with solids and clean outfits it looks very pretty, you can find them easily at Forever 21. You can also make this with a small piece of lace by attaching locks at the back. Want a quick way out? Well attach a double tape!
Gold choker: These look great for parties and they need to be wiped after every wear. As being near the neck, sweat can oxidize them.
Choker dos and donts
1. Do not wear high necks, the choker needs to stand out not mix into your clothing.
2. Do not wear heavy earrings for the same reason.
3. Apply your base on your neck, and some glittery blusher too. A choker highlights your neck, let it look pretty.
4. For the same reason, scrub your neck often.
5. Do not wear the choker too high. It has to rest on the lower portion of your neck.
6. If you have a heavy chin area, contour!
