Wedding season and Indian wear are synonymous. While last year swarovski encrusted bridal wear rocked the ramp this year bridal trousseau shopping needs to be more classy (read ethic). So have your wedding coming up? Or someone in the family getting hitched? Well, hit the stores to buy the following styles and look like the fashionista you are:
Lengha style Anarkali: Our Bollywood beauties have rocked this trend since last year, they are great for all body types and shapes. Manish Malhotra started this trend and not it is available in every suit market. PS many online stores do beautiful replicas at amazing prices.
Neon Lehenga: Neon is back on the trends list and this time Indian wear is incorporating it for a young and colourful vibe! Try a neon green lengha for your mehndi. Scared to wear neon? Well, try neon in small does lie the border or the chunni. PS neon goes amazingly well with gota-patti and chikan-kari work.
Shararas make a comeback: When pallazo pants came in vogue, I always wondered if this traditional dress will make a comeback? Well shararas are in this wedding season. They look great and are good at hiding flab.
Lengha-Sarees: I have always lobed this concept. Yes, it does not have the grace of a saree but it as a charm of a lengha at a fraction of the price. Plus it is super easy to wear.
Long tunic lengha: Get your old lengha refurbished by getting a long tunic stitched. Long tunics or kurtis are in vogue this season.
Some trends to keep an eye on:
- Gone is the era of diamond encrusted crystal work. Traditional gotta Patti work is scorching the ramp and is widely available. A basic lengha in gota patti can cost you hardly 5000 INR if you look at the right places!
- Traditional embroidery is back in vogue as Manish Malhotra used Phulkari in his collection. Lucknow based Chikankari is also flooding markets and looks classy.
- Delicate work with sequins, zari and brocade is back this season albeit in more pastel and pink shades.
- Pants, pallazos and cigarette pants are making a comeback and will rule over salwars this year.
- One piece-outfits, gown inspired anarkalis or saree inspired dresses are in this season, the saree gown has been a trend on all runways this season.
