A new study in the US has revealed a shocking piece of news! Researchers say fruit juices and smoothies are a health risk because of the high amount of sugar. These healthy drinks are sugar saturated much like cola.
Back in 2004, they pointed out that high fructose corn syrup in soft drinks can cause headaches. Now the limelight is on ‘healthy’ smoothies and fruitjuice. Researchers say that most countries are slowly replacing soft drinks with fruit juice and smoothies thinking they are healthy beverage.
But researchers say people who ate whole fruit, like blueberries, grapes and apples, are less likely to get type 2 diabetes than those who drank fruitjuice. People who swapped fruit juices with whole fruits three times a week decrease the risk by 7 per cent.
The study was published in the journal Pediatric Obesity.
