Keeping the surroundings clean and avoid stagnation water are essential preventions as we all know ‘Ek machar bhi jaan leva ho sakta hai’. The most common symptoms of malaria include high fever, headache, nausea, shivering along with muscle pain and weakness. Here are a few home remedies to cure malaria but remember to visit the doctor if the condition is serious as malaria is a life threatening disease.
Orange juice: Orange juice contains Vitamin C that enhances the body’s immunity system. Have a glass or two of OJ but not the carton packed ones.
Basil Leaves: Known as ’Tulsi’ in Hindi, Basil has the property of killing parasites and other microorganisms. You can either chew raw leaves or make a decoction out of it. Basil pills or capsules can be used as alternative to raw basil. For the decoction boil leaves of holy basil, black pepper powder or powdered cardamom in half a liter of water, add sugar to make it tasty. Or else go the desi way: make some tulsi adrak chai!
Cinnamon: Cinnamon provides relief from loss of appetite, nausea, indigestion, cramps and spasms. Take one tsp of powdered cinnamon and boil it in glassful of water, add a pinch of pepper powder and honey. This helps cure malaria.
Lemon: As soon as you start feeling feverish, have a solution of three lime juice and one lemon juice dissolved in 60ml of water. This provides instant relief.
Fenugreek seeds: Fenugreek seeds help in building immunity and fighting malaria. Add powdered seeds to water and have it.
