Olive oil is truly gold especially for a healthy heart, studies show a potent ingredient in olive oil may hold the key to beating heart failure.
A new research suggests that Oleate, a common dietary fat found in olive oil, can restore proper metabolism of fuel in heart cells during a heart failure.
Researchers have found that though heart failure is not same as having a heart attack – it’s a state where the heart becomes enlarged, due to high blood pressure which requires it to work harder to pump blood. And as the heart walls grow thick, the volume of blood pumped out diminishes.
However the researchers at University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine looked at how healthy and failing hearts beating in rats reacted to oleate or palmitate, a fat associated with palm oil.
Researchers saw an immediate improvement in perfused failing rat hearts with oleate.
The findings were published in the journal Circulation.
