Chocolates, cakes, cookies and sweets are simply irresistible. But at times we eat a lot of sugary food not just to treat our taste buds or lift the mood but maybe the body demands it. Eating too many sweets is unhealthy for many reason so here are a few ways to effectively stop your sugar addiction:
Replace: If you have a sweet tooth, try to replace the sugary food with fruits like strawberries, orange, apple, grapes etc. These fruits are rich in vitamins and are a healthier option.
Portion size: For all those who can’t resist the yummy gulab jamuns, halwa, and other sweets it’s advisable to consume them in small quantity. Refraining from them completely will upsurge the craving so it’s better to take a small bite. But make sure that you just consume a small portion of your favourite dessert and not end up finishing it.
Chew your food: At times chewing food for longer duration can cure your sugar addiction. The longer you chew the complex carbs, the sweeter they taste. Chewing can reduce that need for sugar and improve digestion.
Exercise more: Exercising is the best way because of the connection between exercise and sugar addiction. Sometimes the body craves for sugar when it’s in an acidic condition. Incorporate exercise into your daily routine to get your body into a more alkaline state and replace sugary drinks with water post work-out.
Go natural: Bottled and canned juices are not natural and high on sugar. Try and opt for fresh fruit juices. Also avoid eating high calorie cakes, pastries, salad dressing and cookies. Sugar free and diet food is not always good and healthy.
Eat home cooked food: Cooking and eating at home as much as possible will allow you to make your meals sugar-free.
