Many of us discover or are told by our partner that ‘ohh honey.. you snore.’ What follows is embarrassment and then fights that you cannot be doing ‘it’ every night. Couples also make videos of each other snoring (ala Bade Acche Lagte Hain). It is impossible to learn how to stop snoring but you can quit snoring by trying the following:
Lose weight: Yes! Weight can be a major reason for snoring. At times an excess of fat tissues accumulates at the back of the throat which leads to those loud Zzzz. Lose 5 kgs to see the difference and you will sleep better too.
Change you sleeping position: Many people snore when they sleep on their backs. Try and sleep sideways or without pillows, it might help.
Get your sinuses checked: Clogged nasal passages, sinus or allergies can aggravate snoring problems. Many people snore when they have cold or a stuffy nose.
Stop alcohol and smoking: Smoking irritates the air passages and alcohol eases them a bit too much! Both lead to snoring and breathing difficulties while sleeping
Do not have milk right before you sleep: Milk moistens the membranes of your throat which can aggravate snoring issues.
Buy a humidifier: Sometimes humidity in the room can moisten the throat and nose membranes which lead to snoring. A humidifier can fix that problem.
