There is a song that best defines Delhi in all its romantic glory. “… Yeh Dilli hai mere yaar… Bas ishq, mohabbat, pyaar…” croons the singer, knowing very well that Delhi’s charm lies in its romance.
Turns out, this romantic nature continues to stay strong, reflected in its youth. A survey with Foreign Women on Indian Men, powered by AXE, has revealed that men from Delhi and Mumbai closely compete when it comes to charming women. Delhi’s men have been rated as more confident lovers (42%) as compared to their Mumbai counterparts (37%). To add to it, Delhi men are also considered better at romance (50%) than Mumbai (47%).
Delhi males don’t quite make the cut in certain aspects, with respondents rating them low on hygiene (36%), physical features (37%) and fashion (27%). But AXE suggests that there are other traits than more than just make up for it. The AXE survey reveals that the most desirable attributes of Delhi’s male brigade include their affinity towards Indian culture (65%), their etiquettes (58%), sense of responsibility (86%) and stability (85%). While 37% respondents vouch for the overall impression made by Delhi men, 38% respondents were as impressed by men from Mumbai.
With a sample size of around 1100 women from diverse countries, it has been found that conventional Indian male personalities – The Couch Potato, The Grizzly Bear and Momma’s Boy – otherwise considered undesirable, are what foreign women are looking out for in their Ideal Man. A man’s good looks are less likely to help him impress a woman than his cultured personality and respect for family values. The study has revealed that 46% women desire Indian men for their moral-fibre and etiquettes, a quality they find irresistible. Indian surnames – long, winding and a tongue twister in their own way – have also turned out to add to the desirability quotient of the Indian Male.
In terms of appearance, Indian men seem to attract great attention because of their moustache, sexy accent, a hairy chest and their tanned skin. These traits are where Indian men come closest to the Ideal Man, according to the women who participated in the AXE survey.
Turns out, the Indian man has exactly what it takes to charm women, nationality notwithstanding. If you have what it takes, these women have a plea to make – “Come to my Boat Party…”
