In the midst of heavy rains in Delhi, we feel in love with our old favourite Harry Potter all over again! Harry Potter and the cursed child released all over the world on July 31 which is JK Rowling and Harry Potter too. The world including me went mad, pre-ordered the book or went to stores early next day to pick it. Even though JK Rowling insisted that this is a script of the play, we still wanted to read it.
So over the next 24 hours we went on a reading frenzy and after reading it once, I had to read it all over again. It was like love in every page. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child taught us something in every page, every chapter and through the complexities of the characters. Here are 5 life lessons Harry Potter and the cursed child taught us. PS Major spoilers ahead and if you love Harry Potter as much as we do read the book first:
It’s okay to have love and lost
We all lose someone we love whether to death or to that gradual breaking away from each other in life. Yes it is difficult but it is the best part of life that we know how to move on. Harry too has moved on and as difficult as it is for him to watch his parents die he lets it happen.
Time is not be messed with
How many times do we wish to go back in time and mend our actions? The ‘what if’s’ never end. We all think of things we could do differently. Harry Potter and the cursed child actually shows us that had we muggles got the chance to rectify things with a time turner much like wizards we would be in a bad space. Make peace with your past, no matter how angsty it makes you feel.
Sometimes your gut instinct is right
In the starting of the book we see Harry’s son, the young Albus, scared of being selected in Slytherin and his gut is proved right when he gets elected there, which makes him more skeptical about Hogwarts. Our gut instinct or sixth sense always forewarns us. It is upon us how well we adjust to any news.
Parenting is never easy
Harry Potter much like most of us has a problem understanding his son. Being ‘Harry Potter’ scares Albus about the benchmarks set for him. Harry much like real life parents ends up scolding Albus often. Albus as a child hates his father’s fame and wants a normal life. Harry wants Albus to understand his love for him but both find bonding with each other difficult.
Friends are life
Seriously! Harry survived Voldemort because his friends love and protected him. Albus too much like Harry survives Hogwarts because of Scorpius Malfoy. Friends make us happy and are the light we need to brighten up our lives.
So pick up the book and get ready for the journey of your lives!
