This year’s Olympics and Paralympics have been memorable moment for India. The female athletes of the country are making us proud and getting our country to reach heights.
The country witnessed one such record breaking performance by Deepa Malik. A 45 year old athlete who is paralyzed from waist down. She is the first women to ever win a silver medal in the shotput F-53 category at the Rio Paralympics 2016. She threw her personal best of 4.61 meters from her wheelchair.
Her willpower is commendable. Deepa suffered from a spinal tumor, which was first diagnosed at the age of 6. Her recovery at that time took 3 years. In 1999, her tumor relapsed which was followed by 31 surgeries. This left her with 183 stitches between her waist and legs.
A mother of two and wife to an Army officer, Deepa has 54 national gold medals and 13 international medals in various sports. She has participated in javelin throw and swimming as well. She is also a motivational speaker.
On her victory, the entire country came together to congratulate this inspiring soul. Let shave a look at all the tweet which were made for her:
