A recent study suggests that getting comments on Facebook can improve your day. They say if this is repeated over a month then it also improves the person’s metal well-being. Strange! But thats a fact.
They also say that comments from close friends can give them a feeling of satisfaction and happiness. The study shows that ‘likes’ do not make this big a difference, but a comment really does the trick.
Research scientist at Facebook, Moria Burke says that the comments don’t need to be in paragraphs. Even a sentence or two works. The important thing is that the commenter took out time to personalize the message. It basically gives the receiver the gratification of having a meaningful relationship in their lives.
This study runs parallel to many former studies in this field, which show that people who devote a lot of time on social media undergo from hopelessness and loneliness. This creates a lot of confusion in our minds regarding the recent study. The solution was taken out by examining Facebook logs and activities of about 1,910 Facebook users from 91 countries for a monthly examination for 3 months.
This showed that people who are feeling low tend to turn towards social media for aid. They choose this only because they know it makes them feel better. By observing the behavior and mood the study also concluded that interacting with friend on Facebook improves the feeling of overall mental welfare.
The final conclusion reads that when people are happy they use more of Facebook and also the usage of social media depends on their metal welfare.
