The newly crowned Venezuelan beauty is the 62nd Miss Universe. Maria Gabriela Isler won the pagent after a fierce competition from 85 contestants. Maria was announced Miss Universe in a glittering ceremony at the Crocus City Hall in Moscow, Russia. The final five at the countdown were: Miss Brazil, Miss Ecuador, Miss Philippines, Miss Spain and Miss Venezuela. Here are a few facts about Miss Universe 2013 Maria Gabriela Isler:

Maria Gabriela Isler, is now the seventh Venezuelan to have triumphed at a Miss Universe contest.
As a part of her ceremonial duties, the 25-year-old also sported a jewel-studded swimsuit, that costs a whopping $1 million. The swimsuit designed by YAMAMAY, was made specially to celebrate the launch of their upcoming clothing line and the glitzy Miss Universe event.
Following her victory, Maria began talking to reporters following the show’s conclusion and told the reporters that, “I have a lot of emotions. I can’t describe all the things that I feel at this moment because I’m shaking… I’m still in shock. I feel so blessed, so happy to be here.”
According to a report Maria Gabriela Isler could not sleep all night due to her winning and her post competition emotions, she stayed up chatting to friends and family.
As a youngster, Maria Gabriela Isler attended parties that she was not invited to! As a 7-year-old, she would turn up at birthday parties without an invite to befriend the birthday boy/girl.
Maria was working as a television anchor for the Venevision TV Network. She currently works as a ‘talent’ in the TV channel but we think her job might now be put on hold as her Miss Universe duties include travelling around the world.
Prior to this, she acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Management and Marketing; and finished her course three years ago when she finished her thesis.
She was born on April 21, 1988, in the third largest city in Venezuela, Valencia. She moved to Maracay in the north-central region of the country, where she grew up and studied.
Gabriela has two talents she loves dancing and gift-wrapping. She is a trained flamenco dancer.
Maria Gabriela Isler did a job wrapping gifts when she was young.
Maria Gabriela Isler is half Venezuelan and half Swiss, as her father was the son of a swiss immigrant and married a Venezuelan.
According to the Miss Universe website description, Maria Gabriela Isler has been the loving aunt to her sister’s young three-year-old. Isler often helps look after her sister’s daughter and calls herself a second mother.
The Miss Universe 2013 respects her mother, who is her greatest role model.
While Isler’s name is said to be Gabriela Isler, several websites refer to the new Miss Universe as Maria Gabriela Isler. So there is some confusion about her name! Her nickname though is Molly.
