It’s been a long while that we keep assuring ourselves every now and then that we have entered into 21st century. But still there are end number of orthodox beliefs which defies humanity at every other step. One such banned ritual of Indian society is keeping widows away from festivals and other celebrations as it is believed that they bring bad luck. Society has nothing to do with emotional front of those women who has lost her soul mate and is already feeling lonely.
But, a Gujarat based businessman (born with a golden heart) decided to crush this unnecessary and cruel superstition. Jitendra Patel known as Jitu bhai, invited widows from five districts including Mehsana, Banaskantha, Sabarkantha, Aravalli and Patan in his son’s wedding. He desired that the couple must have genuinely warm blessings from the neglected section of society.
His only motive was to break this superstition and enlighten the essence of womanhood in the society. There were many politicians present at the venue but widows were given due honor and respect. Some of them bursted into tears, 55 year old Hansa Thakore told a leading daily that she had never imagined such honor and importance after becoming widow.
As a token of gratitude, Jitubhai gifted plants and blanket to all the widows and took promise that they will nurture it in their backyard. In addition, he distributed 500 milk-giving cows to financially backward widows. Great Jitubhai! you initiated to add colors into the life of some people and left all those people speechless who splurge their crores making the weddings a lavish one.
Do we need to say more?
