Rape is an evil offense. The statics are scary, with 24,206 reported cases in 2011, rape cases rose by 873 % from 1971 (the oldest case of rape first recorded by the National Crime Record Bureau). These are the official figures, as there are many women who refuse to file a police complaint over the embarrassment they might face. No woman ever invites rape but our leaders think differently. Some of them are blatantly rude and believe it is the woman’s fault. Some believe it is a political conspiracy against the state. Chowmein is the reason for rapes!
The khap panchayat in Haryana’s Jind district ought to get an award for this one. They have blamed consumption of chowmein for the growing incidents of rapes. They say chowmein leads to hormonal imbalance due to which women are raped! Really? That means all men in China should ideally be rapists!
Friendship and the availability of options in the opposite sex!
Mamta Banrjee went on a verbal diarrhea mode when she said that it is women who meet and hold hands with boys giving them options that leads to rapes! She went further to add that media is glorifying rapes! Yes, the media reports rape just like we reported your win Ms. Banerjee.
Marry girls early to prevent rapes
The khaps think marrying girls at an early age will prevent rapes and Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala backs this theory wholeheartedly. They plan to bring down the legal age for marriage from 18 to 16 years. Sube Singh, a khap leader, advocates that young girls are more vulnerable to rapes and should be married earlier. We never knew it is women who rape, maybe Mr. Sube Singh needs to study biology and sex education all over again.
Migrants and Delhi’s porous border leads to rape
Delhi CM Sheila Dixit has a major foot and mouth problem. In an interview to a TV channel the CM had blamed the high number of migrants and Delhi’s porous border for the rapes. SO according to you Ms. Dixit, Delhi men do not rape or attempt rape? A rapist comes all the way to Delhi to do this evil deed?

Another politician from Haryana, Dharamvir Goyal believes 90 percent of rapes are consensual sex and stories of rape are cooked to hide it!
Women after 8 invite rape: Police
Gurgaon police found the perfect reason to shirk work and blame the women! According to them any women venturing outside their house post 8 pm invites rape. They condemn women for working late hours too.
It saddens us at Aaw to see the reaction of people in power. Maybe we need to start looking for educated and people to rule our country before they start prosecuting women for getting raped. But what also needs to be changed is the anarchic mindset of men. We believe the rapist should be humiliated and punished so that he understands what social stigma and physical trauma a woman goes through.
