After casting the vote in the morning on April 10, the people of Chandigarh can enjoy their evening at a saloon, spa or lounge and avail discounts. Yes, you read it right, they can avail upto 30 per cent discount on restaurants, beauty parlours, multiplexes as the UT Administration and the Chief Election Office have come up with such offers to lure people to vote.
They have partnered with hotels, restaurants, beauty parlours, multiplexes and shopping malls to offer discounts to those who show up with their inked fingers and voter ID card.
The government has also tied up with leading multiplexes, who will offer discounts to the first-time voters. Besides discounts the first time voters will also get a letter of appreciation.
Partnered business establishments have already placed banners to inform and attract the voters. The main reason behind this is to attract more voters including women besides first-time voters.
It’s a good way to attract the voters but on the other hand its little disappointing to see that people need offers to choose their representative. India is democratic country but still people don’t want to use their fundamental rights.
In Chandigarh it’s Gul Panag (AAP) vs Pawan Kumar Bansal (Congress) vs Kirron Kher (BJP).
Well let’s see will such measures lure people to the election booth. What do you think?
