The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has delivered a baby girl – a new Princess – the whole nation was hoping for. The royal princess was born on Saturday at 6 AM.
The name is yet to be finalised. The betting suggests that there is a shortlist that consists of five names, Charlotte (5/2), Alice (3/1), Elizabeth & Olivia (Both 5/1) and finally Victoria at 11/2.
As the royal princess arrived what shocked us was that in 12 hours Duchess Kate looked picture perfect, personally I felt like a zoned out zombie! And the baby was all ready for the photo ops!
The princess was born at 8.34am, weighing 8lbs 3oz – just 3oz less than Prince George when he arrived in July 2013.
She is the first princess to be born into the British monarchy in 25 years. The last was Prince Andrew’s daughter Princess Eugenie in 1990.
Covered in a shawl and with a bonnet over her head to protect her from the early evening chill, she slept right through her big moment as a beaming Duke and Duchess introduced her to the waiting world outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington at 6.12pm.
The proud parents then left for home at Kensington Palace with their new daughter, who had earlier met big brother Prince George at the hospital.
Financial experts at the UK’s Centre for Retail Research have predicted the birth of the royal princess will bring an additional £150m to the economy.
Around £35m is expected to be spent in the coming days alone on momentos and royal sounvenirs.
