List of things that you should never say to a covid positive person:
By now a lot of people all over the country have been infected with covid-19 with many countries now dealing with the second wave of infections. With a surge in cases, there are chances that someone you know is suffering, or had coronavirus. It is important to keep a check up on the person but be careful with your words because a COVID-positive patient is already going through so much, and the last thing they want is to be inundated with conversations that don’t make them feel better. So here is a list of things that you should never say to a covid positive person:
-
- How did you get it?
Even doctor’s don’t know the answer to this,
-
- “You should have been more careful.”
This is something you don’t need to tell someone who is already suffering.
-
- “Why didn’t you tell me you got COVID?”
If you get to know it later, don’t say this to them. This is not news that needs to be published, everywhere.
- You’re lucky you’ve got the antibodies now
Just because someone got covid doesn’t mean they necessarily have antibodies in their system. So they are not lucky to have caught covid. Avoid saying this to them.
- How are you feeling now/today?
It is good to ask them how they are doing once in a while but not every day, their answer is not going to change. Covid recovery takes time.
-
- Take good rest
Avoid giving them advice, since they are already not well, and getting advice from their doctors and other people as well.
-
- It’s good you’ve got it, it’s over now
Don’t forget that someone who has had the virus can get it again. So don’t say such things to them.
Some other things that covid patients don’t like hearing:
- Are you bored?
- “I think you should get hospitalized,”
- How is the isolation going?
- Is everyone else fine at home?
Things you can say to them:
- Take care
- Have some entertaining conversations with them
- Let me know if you need anything, I am there for you
- Think positively
- You can call me whenever you feel like it.
