Anita Dongre
1. What is the bridal trend for 2015?
Anita Dongre: My bridal collection is always versatile. We’ve got almost 150 new designs. We’ve got some beautiful Lehengas some beautiful long jackets most with Gotta Patti, some woven in Banaras. I’m just proud and happy to be presenting this collection. We always create separates that a bride is always encouraged to put together differently and each piece has a lot of value because of the way it can be mixed and matched with many other pieces. Nothing is like a set ensemble, it’s a lot of coordinates.

2. The hottest colours to sport this wedding season.
Anita Dongre: I’ve done the entire collection in vintage colours. I really want the bride to start looking at the pista green, the blush pinks, and the powder blues. These are three of my most favourite colours in the collection and I really would like the bride to see how beautiful and royal and gorgeous she will look in vintage colours

3. What should the men wear?
Anita Dongre: Wedding wear for men is about understated elegance and sophisticated timelessness. While black is an evergreen color for men especially for a reception etc, the emergence of a fresh color palette including reds and blues offers a more exciting and vibrant take on wedding wear. Subtle embroideries, clean and classic silhouettes in lime greens, creams, and reds make for a stylish groom. Classic silk sherwanis with dhotis, raw silk bandis with silk kurtas and fusion jackets with breaches and slim trousers are among the current trends

1. What is the bridal trend for 2015?
Shantanu & Nikhil: A trousseau is very important and must have a variety of styles that create an impact to your post wedding and cocktail evenings. An important aspect is to focus on the design which accentuates the body curves. One of most romantic and glamourous silhouette is the Saree Gown. Silhouette oriented saree gowns with little embroidery detail work well for a cocktail evening. Avant-garde Kurtas make a strong statement as they are very much textured and silhouette driven.Light weight Lehengas paired with short jackets in velvets and rich hues of red and hint of gold is a perfect match for the confident and contemporary in thought new age bride. So are the Red carpet gowns or ball gowns that add a western flavour to cocktail evenings and occasions.

2. The hottest colours to sport this wedding season.

Always known to play contemporary in different shades of emotions, this fall, master couturiers Shantanu & Nikhil disseminates to you “The Mahal” directly from the soul of the sands, a never ending brisk to discover the mighty architecture, inspiring culture, divine royalty and inviting glamour.

The collection embarks on its journey from the attractive lore culture with the braced narration of the peaceful essence of deserts natural canvas and the intermeddle is a mesmerizing allurement of charismatic luxurious attributes and the strong influence of the “Jharokha” which is overwhelming and is made with extraordinary amount of soulfulness, taking you to the intricate and sublime star light of the “Sheesh Mahal” and then the seamless sojourn of the palace which comes down to the grandeur of the vigorous and the prestigious “Chariot” depicting the pride and might of the people. The colour pallet is drawn from the native solitary beauty- beige and brown cheerfully ambles into patina gold and then a bright boost with the accompaniment of the intensity of the rich reds and teal blues speaking about the glory and the diversified charm of the atmosphere
The silhouette is inspired from the strong and controlled structural architecture bringing out the precious assets throughout the collection with a distinct flavour of the traditional heritage and a westerly perception. The inspiration begins with the pasts end note and a take on enfeebled ingredients to a paramount pageant of grandiose, luxury & affluence.

3. What should the men wear?
Shantanu & Nikhil: Nowadays the bride and groom complement each other in their wedding attire and there is a sense harmony seen, as we see the change in the mind-set of the Indian groom. He is more organized, the reason why Indian grooms also spend a lot of time in planning their overall look for the wedding trousseau, paying attention to the attire, shoes, and accessories. A trousseau for a groom must have Cocktail Sherwanis, Bandhgalas with unique detailing such as tonal embroidery and edgy gilded collars. Innovative cuts and tailor- made drapes teamed with a sash or a brooch are in this season as there is a shift towards subtle, unique cuts and silhouettes, which is more masculine and structured with slight details.

Find your pick of some of the most enviable bridal trousseau by leading Indian couturiers like Anju Modi, JADE, Manish Malhotra, Monisha Jaisingh, Sabyasachi, Tarun Tahiliani, Varun Bahl and VineetBahl. At the exclusive The Vogue Wedding Show (VWS) in partnership with the Taj Group, will be held on August 7-9 2015, at the Taj Palace, New Delhi. The event is a ‘by invite only’ luxury exhibition.
