Celebs including SRK, Amitabh Bachchan, and Virat lost their Twitter Blue Tick:
Microblogging site Twitter removed the legacy verified blue ticks from all accounts. The only individual Twitter users who have verified blue checkmarks are those paying for Twitter Blue, which costs USD 8/month via the web and USD 11/month through the in-app payment on iOS and Android.
Several Bollywood celebrities such as Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Alia Bhatt, along with politicians including CM Yogi Adityanath, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi, as well as cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, among others, have had their verified blue ticks removed from their Twitter accounts as a result of recent developments.
According to a report it was previously stated that Twitter would remove the verified status checkmark from accounts that were verified as noteworthy before Elon Musk’s acquisition unless they have subscribed to Twitter Blue or the business-oriented Twitter Verified Organizations plan.
Originally, the blue tick was used to prevent impersonation and false information about well-known people.
Earlier in March, Twitter posted from their official handle, “On April 1st, we will begin winding down our legacy verified program and removing legacy verified checkmarks. To keep your blue checkmark on Twitter, individuals can sign up for Twitter Blue.
