Well, we have a few tips that might just land you in that über luxurious suite!
Book middle range room: It’s not impossible to get upgraded when booking the cheapest room available. Book a mid range room for better chances.
Timing: Check in late, as the cancellations and no-shows have already happened, increasing your chances! Also, if you have flexi-dates, don’t book for holiday times, full occupancy makes it difficult to get an upgrade.
Hotel mistake: Sometimes a hotel does small mistakes, room not ready?, you wanted a room in the smoking zone? Well, these mistakes can work in your favor. Address the management and politely ask them if they can do something (like upgrade!) for the inconvenience caused.
Ask: It’s not a bad idea to ask; the worst that can happen is getting declined. But at least you tried. Psst always tell them if it is a special occasion. “Me and my hubby took all our vacations for three years saying we were newly marrieds on honeymoon or it is our anniversary,” says Palak Raina. “We always got the best rooms with amazing views and facilities,” she adds.
Drop names: This is a tough one, but title dropping can increase your chances of upgrades. Hotels may want to impress if you are an important businessman or say you are here on behalf of some organization to recce the hotel for a conference. It also helps if you have bogging or press power.
