The Chief Minister of Goa, Shri Manohar Parrikar, has been quoted in the media as saying that his government will issue rules for casinos operating in the state by the end of February, 2014. He has also said that a Gaming Commissioner will be appointed on February 28 and that the entry of Goan residents to casinos in the state will be banned starting March 2014.
As for the ban on Goans’ entry to casinos, it is a decision taken by the elected government. The new rules would make it mandatory for customers to prove that they are not domiciled in Goa, by producing government documents.
Goa has four operational offshore casinos and more than 12 are in various five-star hotels in the state.
