On Tuesday, Haryana government decided to change the name of Gurgaon and renamed it as ‘Gurugram’. Mewat has also been renamed and its new name is ‘Nuh’. Wait a minute, did they just show off their genius brains by changing synonym: from ‘gaon’ to ‘gram’. Lol yes! This corporate hub in the outskirts of Haryana is now Gurugram as people of the area were demanding so.
The official spokesperson said that Gurgaon derived its name from legends after the great saint and tutor of Pandavas Guru Dronacharya. The village (which is now Gurgaon, Oops Gurugram) was given to Dronacharya by Pandavas as Guru Dakshina. The region has been center of learning and was known as Gurugram only but the time has distorted its original name Gurugram to Gurgaon. But now it is again renamed according to folklores of ancient times.
The renaming, however came with a lot of criticism as the corporate hub has already registered its name as Gurgaon on global front, this namkaran may take time for the world to re-accept the same. Well in India anything happens and Twitterites can’t keep calm, they just showed their sense of humor (as usual) in this matter.
Gurgaon’s name has been changed to Gurugram?!
What the heck man. Stole my idea of an Instagram like app where babajis could upload selfies.
