The city of lakes ‘Udaipur’ is a beautiful place and after spending the day at the spectacular and huge City Palace and enjoying the splendor and imagining the royalty of the kings, I was tired and hungry. As I was clueless about good restaurants in Udaipur we asked a local driver to suggest a decent place to enjoy a sumptuous meal. On his recommendation I choose Lal Bagh as it was nearest to my hotel.
Food: The place offers an extensive variety of food from Butter Chicken to Pizza everything is available. The bar is well stocked with both domestic and international brands. Roasted papad and pickle is also served before (Though there was a small insect in our pickle bowl).
Price: The serving size is good and the place is not very expensive.
Meal for Two: A meal for two without liquor would cost you approx. INR 1200.
Ambience: The restaurant is done up well. The huge wooden entrance door looks impressive and gives a royal feel. Both open air and indoor sitting option is available. The open air seating with tented private dining area and some tables looks impressive while the indoor seating is very run-of-the-mill. You can enjoy live band music too.
Must Try: The menu is elaborated and offers a mix of everything from Indian to Italian. Non-vegetarian preparations like Lal Mas and Khada Masala Chicken are spicy and flavoursome while the vegetarian preparations like Paneer Tikka Masala, corn palak and Dal Makhani are pretty average. The naans are soft and made without egg (we especially asked the waiter). The best thing is that the tandori roti is made from wheat and not flour as it’s usually seen in many restaurants. If here stick to Indian cuisine and for English food try the cafes near Bhagore ki haveli.The place is a hit among the locals but being a Delhiite I didn’t find anything extraordinary about the food and drinks.

Would I visit again? I won’t go especially to this place if I am in Udaipur.
