Check out some easy hacks to keep coriander fresh:
Coriander is an herb that is used in almost every recipe especially in Indian cooking, and it is often used fresh. However the herb doesn’t stay fresh for a long period of time and wilts quickly. Honestly, I hate it when a bunch of coriander gets wasted as the leaves get dried. So in order to stop the wastage here are some ways to preserve coriander for a longer period of time:
- Plastic bag
As soon as you bring the bunch of coriander, soak it in water and then use a clean towel to dry it. After that transfer the coriander to a zip plastic bag and close the seal, keep it in the refrigerator. Coriander is a delicate herb and method like these which allows it to remain dry can extend the freshness of the herb. The combination of moisture and cool temperatures can keep the Coriander fresh and crisp for a few days.
- Store with tissues
Now you need to cut the end of coriander as they are unnecessary and removing them makes it easy to store the herb. After this wash and dry coriander completely then place a dry tissue paper into a container and put coriander in it. Make sure the container is airtight, do not use the plastic bag for this method. This way coriander shall stay fresh for two or three weeks.
- Water container
As done in the above ways wash and dry the coriander leaves after that take a glass jar. Fill the jar with cool water and arrange coriander inside it, make sure you cut all the stems before that. Place a re-sealable plastic bag over the top of the jar and store it in the refrigerator. Let the opening of the bag remain loose do not close it with a rubber band or anything. Keep changing the water frequently. Storing coriander through this method it can stay fresh for about four weeks.
